The Future of Mobility
“Wherever You Want To Go” marked the first release under BMW Documentaries — a four-part short film series exploring the future of mobility.
Told through the lens of the cities we inhabit, the innovations shaping our world, and the cultural forces influencing movement, the series examined how our past and present inform what comes next.
At its core, the films asked a deceptively simple question:
How will we move, and why?
The exploration was shaped by some of the most influential thinkers and pioneers of our time (ala 2011), including:
• Buzz Aldrin
• Syd Mead — futurist and visual architect behind Blade Runner, Aliens, and Tron
• Marissa Mayer (then VP at Google)
• Robin Chase — founder of Zipcar
• Graham Hill — founder of Treehugger
• Mike Musto — Editor-in-Chief of Ridelust
• Lawrence Burns — co-author of Reinventing the Automobile
• Richard Mattila — Director of Environmental Affairs
The result was a layered portrait of technology, culture, and mobility — not just where we’re going, but how we choose to get there.
